About me

I, Dr. Zahra Shahsavar is an assistant professor at Shiraz University of Medical Sciences. I obtained my PhD in English Language from University Putra Malaysia (UPM). My research interests include scientific and academic writing, writing assessment, critical thinking in education, and the use of technology for teaching and learning.

My PhD thesis was on “Developing Critical Thinking Skills in the Argumentative Writing of Tertiary Level Students in a Blended Learning Environment”, I examined the relationship between using critical thinking skills in students’ writing and some variables such as students’ cognitive style, filed dependency, and attitude towards blogs.

I have been the member of foundation for critical thinking since 2014. I successfully passed the online course on “Critical Thinking for Instruction & Learning” and got the certificate in teaching critical thinking skills from, California, USA. As a result, I have brought excellent knowledge in teaching academic writing to students by applying a unique method in which I can merge writing skills with critical thinking skills. I can also bring this method in teaching other language skills namely, reading, speaking, & listening.

I have more than 17-year experience in teaching English to undergraduate and graduate students focused on improving students’ general and academic English language skills. I am the author of many articles as well as books, and chapter books. I have also presented a lot of papers in international conferences worldwide. Furthermore, I have contributed as a reviewer for different scientific journals. For more information, please take a look at my resume posted below.
